The Osmonds are still active in the entertainment industry, although some members have scaled back their performances due to health issues or retirement. Here’s an update on the current status of the Osmond siblings:
Virl Osmond (79): Retired from performing due to hearing difficulties and now focuses on producing films. He’s also a deaf missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Tom Osmond (77): Retired from the US Postal Service in 2014 and keeps a low public profile.
Alan Osmond (75): Diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis, which forced him to stop performing with the band. However, he’s still involved in music and recently launched his autobiography “One Way Ticket”. He’s currently hospitalized, and wishes for a speedy recovery have been sent his way.
Merrill Osmond (71): Retired from performing in 2022, with his final show in 2024. He’s pursued a country music career and has six children.
Jay Osmond (69): Actively performing as a solo artist in Branson, Missouri, and has written a musical about the Osmonds’ lives.
Donny Osmond (67): Continues to perform live and has been involved in various projects, including musical theater and TV shows. He won Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and recently starred in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.
Marie Osmond (65): Has stepped back from the spotlight to focus on her family but still performs occasionally with her brother Donny.
Jimmy Osmond (61): Suffered a stroke in 2018, which ended his musical theater career. However, he’s still active in business as the president of Osmond Entertainment.
The Osmond family has experienced significant changes, including the passing of Wayne Osmond on January 1, 2025, at the age of 73 due to a stroke. Despite this loss, the family remains close-knit and continues to celebrate milestones, including birthdays and new additions to the family.
I had no idea that Jimmy Osmond had a stroke. Wow. This is a very talented family. And may Wayne Osmond rest in peace.
