In an emotional ceremony that nearly brought Sunset Boulevard to a standstill, Sir Tom Jones created a new historic milestone: he became the first artist ever to be honored with a full-body bronze statue on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, far surpassing the traditional star plaque that has existed for decades….The statue depicts Sir Tom in his legendary 1970s prime, complete with his signature unbuttoned shirt, tight trousers, and the powerful, wide-legged stance that defined a generation. It was unveiled right in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre. Standing over 9 feet tall including its pedestal, the statue commands attention, cast in solid bronze and resting on a base of Welsh slate imported directly from his hometown of Pontypridd.

“I never thought I would see myself turned into a statue — especially a boy from the coal mining valleys of Wales,” Sir Tom said emotionally as his family and thousands of cheering fans stood by. “But if I’m going to stand on Hollywood Boulevard forever, let it show that a voice from the valleys can reach the whole world.”

The honor was unanimously approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce after receiving a global petition with 2.8 million signatures. Right after the unveiling, guest artists performed a surprise medley of iconic songs like “It’s Not Unusual” and “Delilah.”

At the end of the ceremony, Sir Tom placed his hand on the statue’s microphone and whispered, “We kept the fire burning.”

The Tom Jones monument is now open to the public at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard.
